Most ACJC students have Facebook accounts. Every member in my CCA (except for one girl) has a Facebook account. All but two in my class own an account. With so many ‘friends’ on our account, how honest can we be with personal information; that listed in our own profile? More importantly, can the information about our ‘friends’ be relied upon? Or is it just for show? With that thought, I embarked on what I call my own Facebook Experiment.
Think Orientation 2010 started on Thursday 28th Jan 2010? Well, think again. Things started on December 2009, when the OGL list was confirmed. Then came the OGL camp, followed by Tuesday morning meetings, and in the lead up to orientation, DAILY morning meetings. Then came Wednesday, the all important day of preparations. And finally, our grand walk-in. Things needed to be done, they needed to be done well, so as to give the J1s the best welcome they’ve ever received.
For our walk in on Wednesday, I don’t have any photos. (I couldn’t help it that I was so into my rehearsal I had no time for photos heee). All I know is that I was totally enthralled by Vulcan’s energetic performance that warmed up the whole house, Voda’s splashing dance that cooled down the place, Vasilia’s mind-BLOWING item, and Terra’s earth-moving show.
And that’s not all. We spent time preparing the orientation booklets and set up make-shift factories to get the job of folding >1000 booklet in less than 30 minutes.
A while later…
(See the yellow booklets? All ready)
On being bilingual and calm, or is it bilingually calm or calmly bilingual…

I wish there is more I could tell you about the camp because it was truly a brilliant experience for me. But all participants have been sworn into secrecy about what goes on during camp for the benefit of our future juniors. I can assure you though that they would not be disappointed and should bring with them, for the camp, an open mind and a positive attitude.
On behalf of all the CCA captains, Vice-Captains, Presidents and Vice-Presidents, the writer wants to express his/her sincerest gratitude to the student councillors, who saved my black hair from turning white, thanks to their CCA Banner Painting Service!!!
Firstly, they provide brush renting services, which are great because I don’t think I’ll ever use these paintbrushes ever again in my life.
Secondly, they sell paint by the cup, which means that the CCA does not need to spend so much money buying tin after tin when all they need is, let’s say, a swipe of red paint for emphasis.
Thirdly, they provide cloth buying services.
HENCE, everything is delivered to school and poured out for you. All you need to do is pay a bit of money, and convenience is at hand!!! For all the stress relief they provided, I myself wouldn’t mind paying that bit more for rental of brushes than to hunt for these items myself.
Once again to the councillors, thank you so much!

There have been so many recent posts regarding teachers day this week, because, teacher’s day is truly the most exciting thing that happened last week. Unlike most other schools, Teachers’ Day in AC was celebrated on Friday instead of Monday due to the J2 prelims. But it didn’t matter which day we celebrated the event, the atmosphere of the college last week was particularly festive especially as we took the time to wish some of our teachers “A Very Happy Teachers’ Day “when we saw them during our tutorials.
To all the teachers who taught me since I was young, Happy Teacher’s Day.
To my primary school teachers, thanks for baby-sitting us, and teaching us how to grow out of our “spoilt-brat” phase , a time when our parents had to do every thing for us. For teaching us how to count with our fingers, to write neatly, you laid the foundation for our learning in years to come.
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a figure in the distance. As he got closer, he realized the figure was that of a little boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
Health week 2009 was held from 3rd to 6th August. It was the first “Health Week” of my life (my secondary school didn’t do this) and was a rather interesting experience. There was this whole air of “health awareness” around the candeck; this is where you can buy lollipops to encourage your friends. (Buy how exacly are lollipops ‘healthful’ or ‘helpful’?)
