AC's Got Talent was held on Friday, 9th May 2008, 6.30pm at the ACJC Hall. Sponsored by newurbanmale.com, the event featured bands, magic artists, dancers, and "fast-talkers", and drew a total of 600 people that Friday evening. The normally staid college hall was transformed; a dazzling array of lights criss-crossed the hall, golden and purple cloth hung from the banisters, setting the mood for the rest of the event. The Anglo-Chinese Junior College Students' Council has been an integral part of the college history, having been the voice of the students and linking the College Administration and the student body together. With a history spanning more than 30 years, the Students' Council has taken on multiple roles in the areas of event managements and the day to day operations of school activities.
Each of our Councillors exhibits a burning desire to serve and inspire the AC spirit - to impact the lives around them in their small little ways. They are trained to be disciplined not just academically, but in their CCAs and in all other aspects as well. They uphold a tradition of 30 over years, a tradition they are tested to be fit to uplhold, through a stringent process of elections and a June camp. They exemplify qualities unmatched, those elusive qualities of integrity, tenacity and passion.
The ACJC Students' Council comprises of 5 parts: The Administrative Executive-Committee (Ex-Co) , Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) , College Welfare(CW), Public Relations(PR) and Sales. Like many parts of Christ, they form an one body to serve the College to the best of their abilities. There are also many ad-hoc committees which take place throughout the Council term, aiming to serve the many events taking place.
While many Councils have gone by, the role and its goals of Council have not changed. Currently, there are five teachers-in-charge of the Students' Council: Mdm Annie Yong, Mr Eka Tanu, Mrs Dorothea Chang, Ms Matilda Guo and Mr Kwok Ying Liang. By the grace of God, the Students' Council will continue to journey through an exciting school term with the many activities planned in mind for its students, for the best is yet to be. |
